Fellfarbe in den Basenji-Standards ab 1942

Nachfolgend die Definitionen der Fellfarbe in den Basenji-Rassestandards seit 1942.

1942 (GB)	Chestnut with white points and tail tip, also black and white, and black, tan and white.	Kastanienfarben, schwarz/weiß (obwohl zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht nachgewiesen und tricolour.

1943 (USA)	Chestnut with white points and tail tip, Fawn and white, also black and white, and black, tan and white.	Der erste Amerikanische Standard wurde vom Britischen übernommen. Mit der Ergänzung "rehkitzfarben mit weiß"

1946 (GB)	Chestnut with white points and tail tip, also black and white, and black, tan and white. Creams are banned from showing and breeding.	Nach dem die ersten Cream-farbenen Basenji mit schweren Defekten auftauchten, wurde diese Farbstellung von der Zucht ausgeschlossen.

1954 (GB)	Pure, rich chestnut, or pure black, or black and tan, all with white feet, chest and tail tip. White legs, white blaze and white collar optional. Faults: Creams, sables or off-colours, or any colours other than those defined above should be heavily penalized.	Betonung auf reine Farben. Tiefes Kastanienfarben.

1954 (USA)	Chestnut red (the deeper the better) or pure black, or black and tan, all with white feet, chest and tail tip. White legs, white blaze and white collar optional. Faults: Creams, sables or off-colours, other than those defined above, should be heavily penalized.	Detaillierung des kastanienfarben in Kastanienrot. Ausdrückliche Bestrafung von jedweden Farbabweichungen, hier besonders die unreinen, schmutzigen Farben.

1965 (GB)	Pure, bright red, or pure black, or black and tan, all with white feet, chest and tail tip. White legs, white blaze and white collar optional. *Faults:* Creams, sables, or any other colours than those defined in the Colour paragraph above should be heavily penalised.	Auf den Vergleich mit der Farbe einer Kastanie wird verzichtet. An dessen Stelle ein reines strahlendes Rot tritt.

1986 (GB + F.C.I)	Pure black and white, red and white, black tan and white with tan melon pips and mask, black, tan and white. The white should be on feet, chest and tail tips. White legs, blaze and white collar optional.	Formulierungen sind einfacher gehalten. Der F.C.I. hat den Britischen Standard übernommen.

1990 (USA)	Chestnut red; pure black; tricolour (pure black and chestnut red); or brindle (black stripes on a background of chestnut red); all with white feet, chest and tail tip. White legs, blaze and collar optional. The amount of white should never predominate over primary colour. Colour and markings should be rich, clear and well-defined, with a distinct line of demarcation between the black and red of tricolours and the stripes of brindles.	Erstmals wird das Verhältnis von weiß zur Hauptfarbe beschrieben. Die Hauptfarbe soll überwiegen. Brindel wird als Farbschlag offiziell zugelassen. Im Gegensatz zum FCI hier immer noch kastanienrot.

1999 (GB + F.C.I)	Pure black and white: red and white; black tan and white with tan melon pips and mask; black, tan and white. Brindle, red background with black stripes, the more clearly defined the stripes the better. The white should be on feet, chest and tail tips. White legs, blaze and white collar optional.	Nachdem brindel in den USA bereits seit 1990 anerkannt ist, jetzt auch vom Britischen Kennel Club und vom FCI.
